Dr. Judelson receives the "Women of Courage Award"

Debra R Judelson MD received the “Women of Courage” Award from ABC7 TV October 21, 2006 in recognition of her dedication and commitment to improving the health and well-being of women. She is featured on their “ABCs of Women’s Health” special airing October 22, 2006 at 4 pm. As a cardiologist with a focus on heart disease in women, she received her award for her efforts to raise awareness about heart disease in women and move this awareness to better patient care. Dr. Judelson practices in Beverly Hills with Cardiovascular Medical Group of Southern California, is Director of their Women’s Heart Institute in Beverly Hills, and is an attending physician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Since 1999, Dr. Judelson has volunteered as Chair of the Health Policy Council of the Los Angeles County Office of Women’s Health, developing programs that educate and increase access for women regardless of their insurance status, starting with their award winning cervical cancer education and prevention initiative, and the current program “Prevention Matters” focusing on identifying and reducing cardiovascular risk factors. She developed an educational project for the American Medical Women’s Association that has trained over 17,000 primary care doctors about heart disease in women through programs in their local communities and at major meetings. Her expertise in women’s health and leadership in women’s cardiovascular health led to her being named a “Local Legend” by the National Institutes of Heath (NIH) and the National Library of Medicine.
