PEGASUS CRT
(Pacing Evaluation - Atrial SUpport Study in Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy)
The PEGASUS CRT trial is a multicenter phase II trial being conducted at 120 centers in the United States and enrolling approximately 1200 patients. The trial is sponsored by Guidant Corporation.. The objective of the PEGASUS CRT trial is to assess the effect of a CRT defibrillator (CRT-D) programmed to DDD-70 or DDD-40 compared to DDD-40. Clinical efficacy will be assessed by evaluating the effect of pacing mode on a clinical composite score and cardiopulmonary exercise (CPX) treadmill testing. Other prospectively defined endpoints will be changes in clinical outcomes including, quality of life, physical activity, atrial arrhythmia burden, cardiovascular medications, and programming changes/crossovers. Eligible patients must be scheduled to be implanted with a CONTAK RENEWAL cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (CRT-D)
